About the Role: This is an exciting newly created role, born from the expansion of our payroll function and the creation of a dedicated team focused on payroll risk and compliance. As our Payroll Risk & Compliance Officer, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we manage payroll governance across Australia and New Zealand—helping to build best-in-class processes from the ground up. What You’ll Be Doing Drive Payroll Compliance Across Borders: Ensure payroll processes remain compliant across Australia, New Zealand, and related entities, aligning with legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements. Own Critical Payroll Calendars: Maintain and manage Public Holiday and Overtime calendars, ensuring accurate entitlements are applied across all systems and employee groups. Lead Reviews & Risk Audits: Support and lead wage reconciliations, compliance reviews, and risk audits—including key salary checks under relevant industrial instruments. Stay Ahead of Legislation: Monitor changes in payroll legislation and proactively update internal policies, procedures, and control frameworks to maintain compliance. Strengthen Internal Controls: Conduct regular audits, prepare compliance reports, maintain accurate records, and contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll governance. What You’ll Bring End-to-End Payroll Expertise: You have hands-on experience managing complex, high-volume payrolls, with a strong understanding of PAYG, superannuation, long service leave, and interpreting industrial instruments. Detail-Obsessed & Data-Driven: You pride yourself on precision—accurate calculations, meticulous audits, and maintaining clean, compliant payroll records are second nature to you. Analytical, Proactive & Problem-Solving Mindset: You think critically, spot issues before they become problems, and bring structured solutions to improve processes and reduce risk. Tech-Savvy with Payroll Tools: You’re highly proficient in Excel and comfortable navigating large payroll systems—bonus points for experience with SAP.
